Our Favorite Barefoot Luxury Hotel In Nicaragua

Our Favorite Barefoot Luxury Hotel In Nicaragua

Latin America has some truly wonderful luxury hotels, however one of our favorites is the little known luxury ecolodge of Morgan’s Rock.  This is undoubtedly Nicaragua‘s premier ecolodge and a unique getaway where luxury, sustainability and value for money are all found.

Spread over 4000 acres, the property includes areas of protected jungle, an organic farm, mangrove forests and an estuary.  Wildlife here is abundant, with a variety of tropical birds, reptiles, sea turtles, monkeys, sloths among others frequently seen.  A five minute walk from the bungalows is the hotel’s mile long private beach, with its protected waters offering a safe environment for swimming and beginner level surfing.

This luxury hotel ecolodge comprises only 15 beautiful, individually crafted bungalows hidden in the jungle.  These have been constructed using lumber harvested from only certified sustainable wood and blend seamlessly into the jungle environment.  The barefoot luxury bungalows are accessed via a 80 foot long suspension bridge, and are set into the treetops.

All bungalows offer a view through the jungle to the Pacific Ocean from the private, open air terraces which contain a queen sized day bed suspended by thick ropes.  What makes them so unique is the fact that they only have three solid walls, with the fourth wall being made of a fine mesh that allows fresh air in but keeps insects out.  This allows you to truly feel that you are part of the surrounding jungle and not isolated from it.  The decor of the bungalows is enhanced by the artistic creations of Nicaraguan artist Augusto Silva, featuring designs inspired by the indigenous Tunu people of Nicaragua.

There’s plenty to do here on Nicaragua’s beautiful Pacific coast, from jungle hikes both during the day and at night, to kayaking, surfing, deep sea fishing, horseback riding, zip-lining and many other activities.  Or, if you prefer to take it easy, relax in the hotel’s infinity pool or enjoy a spa treatment in the full-service spa.  Another unique feature of Nicaragua’s premier barefoot luxury hotel is its organic farm that produces much of the food served in the excellent restaurant.  Here you can even enjoy the unforgettable experience of ‘making’ your own breakfast, by collecting eggs from the chicken coop, milking the cows, and pounding corn to make your own tortillas before sitting down to a family style Nicaraguan breakfast, something very popular with families with younger children.

We love Morgan’s Rock luxury ecolodge.  On our last visit there we didn’t want to leave.  We’re sure you’ll agree that Morgan’s Rock is without a doubt the most amazing, unique hotel you’ve ever stayed in and will certainly be a highlight of your visit to Nicaragua.  This is barefoot luxury at its finest in Nicaragua.
